BioButters is a well-behaved boy that is sweet and naive. He has a stuttering Southern accent and rarely swears, being the polite boy that he is. Butters is extremely gullible and will believe almost anything that anyone tells him. His parents are overly strict towards him, often seen punishing him for things that are hardly his fault, thus resulting in Butters' low self-esteem and self-loathing. His parents seem to be abusive towards him, both emotionally and physically, thus causing him to be quite terrified of them and even addressing his father as "Sir". His father is a closet homosexual, while his mother was suicidal, had attempted to murder the boy once and had even tried to sell him to Paris Hilton. Despite all that, Butters still remains a positive attitude towards life and enjoys eating out with his family at a restaurant named 'Bennigans'.
Butters is a talented tap dancer, but he soon lost interest in it after he accidentally caused a freak accident, in which eleven people were killed, while tap dancing. He was traumatised by the incident, but managed to get over it to help Stan out in a dance contest. However, he set off another chain reaction, accidentally killing their rivals in the contest and was left scarred by the incident again.
Butters was roped in by Kyle, Stan and Cartman to replace Kenny after his death. He was soon "fired" from the group for being "too lame". This caused Butters to come up with Professor Chaos, his alter-ego as a supervillain of sorts. However, the "chaos" that he caused was negligible as no one really noticed his acts of "mayhem". Butters attempted to come up with numerous "evil plots", but each scheme was shot down by his sidekick, Dougie as General Disarray, for being too similiar to plots from The Simpsons. Butters finally revealed his alter-ego to Stan, who automatically assumed that Butters' "secret" was that he is gay.
When Kenny comes back to life again, the boys seem to be able to get along quite well with the blond on quite a few occasions and Butters doesn't seem to want to give up trying to be accepted back into their circle again.
